Surfin is an on-line inspection system to detect longitudinal cracks in lines of evacuation of continuous casting. It uses sensors based in Conoscopic Holography technology that provide information on the topography of the surface from a safe distance, this makes the system suitable for use in inspection at high temperature and harsh conditions.


It is main features are:

  • Detection of surface cracks larger than 50 mm in length.
  • Detection of other surface features such as length marks due to problems with mold or roller marks periodicals, etc ...
  • Ensures individual surface quality in grinding and automatic assignment of route based on the inspection.
  • Operating temperature up to 1000 ºC.
  • Detection and discrimination of scale.
  • Face detection in top and bottom slabs and around the perimeter tubes and billets.
